ASTANA, Kazakhstan – Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia N.Nomtoibayar and Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.Saparov co-chaired the 10th meeting of the Mongolia-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation in Astana on October 1, 2026.

During the high-level session, both delegations outlined concrete measures to implement decisions reached by Mongolian President U.Khurelsukh and Kazakh President K.Tokayev during their recent state visits. A primary economic objective established under the bilateral "Roadmap to Intensify Trade and Economic Cooperation for 2025–2027" is increasing total trade turnover to US$500 million.

To achieve this target, both governments signed a comprehensive joint protocol expanding bilateral engagement across transport, logistics, geology, mining, agriculture, education, culture, tourism, healthcare, information technology, and environmental protection. Both sides agreed to evaluate potential joint investment initiatives and assess operational frameworks for Special Economic Zones.

Deputy Prime Minister N.Nomtoibayar emphasized the strategic importance of expanding economic ties with Central Asian nations as Mongolia diversifies its export market. He highlighted that the Interim Free Trade Agreement between Mongolia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will play a pivotal role in eliminating technical, sanitary, and customs barriers while streamlining cross-border transit logistics. Mongolia also reaffirmed its commitment to advancing bilateral agreements concerning the export of wool, cashmere, leather, and meat products to Kazakh markets.

Additionally, Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Communications Ch.Nomin proposed establishing direct connectivity routes and joint research on telecommunication corridors, space technology, and international internet network gateways.

Minister A.Saparov noted that the Mongolia–EAEU agreement will create new commercial opportunities, boosting trade in agricultural products, construction materials, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. Both sides finalized cooperation agreements between standards authorities to ensure compliance for exported goods, alongside joint emergency management protocols for high-altitude search-and-rescue training.
